Christine Her, Executive Director of ArtForce Iowa is featured in the Sep/Oct 2026 issue of dsm Magazine.

Anthony Taylor spoke to Her about her background, journey at Art Force Iowa, and her tenacity in leading the organization.

Through persistent fundraising, creative problem-solving and a commitment to serving youth, Her helped ArtForce survive floods, the pandemic, and limited funds. During these times she continued the organization’s arts and self-advocacy programs.

ArtForce Iowa works to connect youth to the wider community. Every First Friday the organization has exhibitions highlighting issues that impact youth, and including art work from students.

Driven by her belief that art can help young people heal, advocate for themselves and strengthen their communities, Her hopes to build an endowment and expand partnerships.

ArtForce Iowa’s mission is to create opportunities for youth to transform through art.
