Queer history, pop culture and computers helped Iowa artist Ben Millett cover a gallery in quilts - Little Village

Little Village covers Ben Millett’s intersecting relationships with his work, quilting, culture & identity in the July 2025 issue.

Millett creates queer themed quilts and clothing in his space at Mainframe Studios. Beginning July 26th 2025, The Des Moines Art Center will have it’s first quilt-based solo exhibition “Iowa Artists 2025: Ben Millett”.

“Iowa Artists 2025: Ben Millett” is more than an exhibition. It’s a celebration of what textiles can do, of what stories they can tell, and of how something as familiar as a quilt can become radical art”.
